We want to learn, help, and when we can,
we want to share our knowledge.

Nature has always been HFK’s religion. You see, Kayla grew up along the Great Plains of
Oklahoma where her family used to stand in awe of the countryside’s sweeping thunder and
lighting storms. From gardening and hunting to cooking and canning, she learned the value of
living self sufficiently at an early age. Not to mention, when the smell of her mother’s cooking
filled the kitchen - she was never far.
When adventure brought Kayla and Morgan to the Square State, their gratitude for nature only
deepened. They fell in love with Wyoming’s supportive, local farming community as well as the
wide open spaces to roam as they please. Upon settling in and turning a house into home, it
wasn’t long before their surroundings consisted of blooming, summer gardens, noisy chickens
and full fridges.
However, it wasn’t until a few years back when Kayla truly realized the importance of food
sourcing and nourishing the body with the highest quality ingredients. In the summer of 2018,
she started struggling with dietary restrictions and quickly came to find out that she was gluten
intolerant.
Although the transition was challenging, especially with a growing teenager, she looked at the
moment as an opportunity. After taking the time to grieve her favorite carbs, she took to the
kitchen. Kayla spent her Sunday afternoons harvesting, turning her and Morgan’s favorite
recipes gluten free and sipping red wine through the evening.
Today, Kayla and Morgan couldn’t imagine a more perfect pace to be then there Honey
Flavored Kitchen. They bake at home completely gluten free using local honey instead of sugar
(even in chocolate chip cookies!). Their recipes reflect homegrown produce, self harvested or
locally sourced produce, a butter addiction and lots and lots of love

Of a mother, a daughter, and our journey to try our best to live sustainably while being self sufficient. We bake in our kitchen gluten free with home grown or organic produce ( preferably from local farms), self harvested meat (or locally sourced from farms), and locally sourced honey as sweetener rather than sugar. Also, BUTTER... everything has butter... because we love it.
